((Am I the only one who looked at that ancient, crumbly bed which happened to be right near the pond - the pond which was visible from Jack’s front door - and wondered ‘Could that have been Jack’s bed from before he drowned?”))
You look sad. When you think he can’t see you.
Did he just say—?

IMAGINE COSPLAYING UR OTP WITH UR BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND AND U COULD KISSAND STUFF AH
A impish grin graced his lips at the innocent question. He leaned back a little while letting his claws graze the side of the tree aimlessly. Bark began to fall once more whilst nails digging into the seams of wood.
So he finally grew a pair. How cute.
"Not stuck in your little fantasy world anymore, are ya? Dear ol’ Jack is gone. I am Jack but not your idiotic Jack. The one who couldn’t keep himself together. Add a little darkness in the mixture and everything goes downhill from there. Don’t ya think?”
Jack decided to humor the teen—the believer for the time being. The game would end quite instantly if he just stayed rooted in his spot. Jack frown immediately afterwards as he yanked his nails out of the severed woodwork. He lingered while watching for a long and venomous moment. His vacant hues blistering in the human’s direction as silence began to sink in and fill the atmosphere. The Shadow Dweller within hoped it was making poor little Jamie all the more nervous. He didn’t miss the shaking in the limbs or the tough facade he was putting out that would eventually begin to crumble down.
He thinks he’s tough but he’s far too soft for that. We all know it.
"Now that leaves the bonus question of: why do ya wanna know? Feeling sociable all of the sudden? Or maybe you’re lookin’ for a way to help Jack…when he isn’t here. And I thought we were playing an exciting game, Jamie. Why are ya standing still? Can’t ya talk while runnin’?”
He tilted his head skeptically. Even if he is stalling…what does he think he could do? Or accomplish? Jack was curious to know that far fetched assumption. He let his tongue poke out from the confinements of his mouth, tracing the top row of his sharpen teeth in thought. He also didn’t mind if the action made the boy across from him a little more skittish. Jamie was prey at this standing second, game in a sense. Jack swallowed thinking about how lovely…
“What…do ya think about the color red?”
Chin lifted, Jamie glared at the dark creature in front of him. He didn’t flinch this time when his claws sliced through the wood. He listened, lips pressed together so tightly they were nearly invisible. How dare this thing take his Jack away from him, his best friend? Jamie tried to open his mouth to voice his fury but he found himself horribly mesmerized at the way this dark Jack was staring at him. While his eyes were burning with ice and power, Jamie’s were alight with passion and a certain protectiveness. His jaw locked.
The longer they stood like that, the more Jamie felt the fear thrumming throughout his body subside, only to be replaced with anger.
“I’m not running anymore,” he said fiercely, taking a step forward, fists clenched tightly at his sides. His nails bit into his palm. “I’m going to get rid of you and help Jack.” Unfortunately, Jamie had pretty much no clue how to do that. Come on, think, think, think. What even was possessing Jack? A demon? Did those exist? If they did, Jamie could try an exorcism, though he had an inkling that the demon wouldn’t really give him the time to look up a chant in one of his many books. He doubted it was a demon, anyway. Could it be a stray from Pitch’s herd of nightmares? He sighed inwardly. He had no clue. As Jack’s tongue slid across the inhuman teeth, Jamie swallowed hard and edged back a mere inch. Those wouldn’t feel good.
At Jack’s question, he rolled his eyes, deciding to take a new approach. “Jeez, could you be anymore dramatic, like, seriously? You’re not even that powerful or anything. All you are is predictable. Oh, I bet you’re gonna tell me something about blood? Maybe how red my blood will look sprayed across this snow?” He scoffed and folded his arms. He had no problem being rude to whatever this thing was. Jamie was angry. Though, perhaps it would anger the dark creature in return… That wouldn’t be good. But it was a risk he was willing to take. For Jack. “So stupid,” he muttered, shaking his head.
